Catholic Theological Union Welcomes New Library Director

CHICAGO — Kristine Veldheer has joined Catholic Theological Union as Director for CTU’s Paul Bechtold Library. In addition to overseeing overall administration of the library, Veldheer will work closely with faculty in the development of the library collection as well as represent the library to public and collaboration institutions. Veldheer comes to CTU with more than two decades of library experience, most significantly at the Graduate Theological Union Library in Berkeley, California.

CHICAGO – Catholic Theological Union (CTU) will present an honorary doctorate in ministry to Sister Simone Campbell, SSS, at the school’s 49th annual commencement ceremony on May 11. Honorary degrees are conferred annually by the faculty and Board of Trustees upon individuals whose contributions to the fields of scholarship and service reflect the values to which Catholic Theological Union is committed.

CHICAGO – Catholic Theological Union (CTU) will honor Rev. Dennis Holtschneider, CM, with its Diakonia award and Monica McWilliams with the Blessed are the Peacemakers award. Each year, CTU presents its Diakonia service award to a distinguished Chicagoan whose service has made a positive and important contribution to the common good of Chicago and the nation.CTU will celebrate its annual Blessed are the Peacemakers Trustee Dinner on April 26, 2017 at the Hilton Chicago.

CHICAGO – Catholic Theological Union (CTU) will honor Monica McWilliams with the Blessed are the Peacemakers award for her tireless witness for peace in Northern Ireland, her efforts to combat domestic violence, and her current involvement with the pressing humanitarian crisis of international refugees. Each year, an institution or individual whose accomplishments and commitments reflect the values of the mission of CTU, particularly in the areas of reconciliation, justice, and peacemaking, is honoredwith the Blessed are the Peacemakers Award.
