Spring 2011 Exhibition: in darkness buried deep

Featuring Artist Pamela Allnutt

"becoming fire becoming clouds becoming smoke," charcoal on paper, 50" x 151.5"

in darkness buried deep features large-scale drawings and paintings by artist Pamel Allnutt, who explores "fragments of nature" through her work.

From Allnutt's artist's statement:

"I think of these paintings as offerings.  As an artist I take images and use them, translating their shapes, colors and textures into a personal language that is deeply meaningful to me in the context of its creation.  Yet in the end, the work is yielded to others, who will layer this passage with their own experience, enriching and deepening its meaning."

Allnut earned a BFA in ceramics from Ohio University and an MFA in painting and drawing from Northern Illinois University.  She teaches art at Judson University in Elgin, the Morton Arboretum in Lisle, and The School of the DuPage Art League.

in darkness buried deep opens with a reception and artist talk on Wednesday, April 13.  The exhibit will be open through June 7, 2011.
